Kim received a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Accountancy from Michigan State University (MSU) in 1972 and has been licensed to practice in Michigan since 1974. After graduating from MSU, Kim started his public accounting career in Lapeer, Michigan. He is a founding shareholder of Brown & Kent, P.C. He has more than 40 years of experience in providing quality audit, tax and business advisory services. His experience includes mergers and acquisitions, tax and estate planning, audits, reviews and compilations of financial statements, agri-business and consulting services. Kim is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants. He is actively involved with community and charitable activities and is currently the treasurer of the Lapeer County Community Foundation and the Lapeer County MSU Alumni Club. Kim is also the past chairman of the Marathon Area Fire Authority, past President and Treasurer of the Lapeer Area Chamber of Commerce and the Lapeer Kiwanis Club. He is very active in his church, a member of the Economic Club of Lapeer County and is a life member of the MSU Alumni Association. He resides in Columbiaville with his wife, Cindy, with whom he has three adult children.
