Accounting/Tax Intern Program
Mattina, Kent and Gibbons offers internships to 3rd and 4th year college students at both of our locations. Interns receive a wide variety of exposure to tax, auditing, and consulting services. Frequently, our interns are offered full-time positions upon graduation.
The ideal candidate for our internship program will have a friendly and positive attitude with strong organizational, communication and professional skills and the ability to handle a fast paced environment. This is a paid, non-exempt, temporary position that could require some Saturday work hours.
Responsibilities
As an intern you will work closely with tax and accounting staff to:

- Produce income tax returns for individual and business clients.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and yearly payroll returns.
- Take on additional tasks or projects to learn more about accounting and office operations.
Education, Experience and Skills Required
- Experience or some knowledge in Tax Preparation would be desired.
- Currently working towards Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting or similar field would be desired.
- Satisfactory completion of introductory accounting courses and a basic understanding of accounting and financial principles.
- Excellent communication, writing and analytical skills.
- Ability to interact positively in a professional manner with coworkers and clients.
- Excellent computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Entry Level Staff Accountant
MKG is continuously adding high-quality entry level accountants to our staff, including recent and upcoming graduates. Entry Level accountants have the opportunity to gain knowledge in accounting, auditing, taxation, and consulting while being supported in the development of technical and business skills.
The ability to positively and proactively manage multiple tasks under strict deadlines will be key in this fast-paced, dynamic environment, as well as a friendly, positive attitude and strong organizational, communication and professional skills.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepares and files tax returns and effectively documents work.
- Prepares and reviews financial statements for accuracy.
- Inspects accounting records for efficiency and accuracy.
- Organizes and updates financial records.
- Prepares documentation for external auditors.
- Builds working relationships at a peer client level.

Staff Accountant
MKG welcomes talented, qualified professional accountants with 2+ years of experience to advance the development and growth of their career through the continued support of our team.
Accountants in this role are responsible for organizing and managing client assignments and projects including the completion of assignment tasks and project components as well as coaching, advising and directing team members in meeting client and self-development expectations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepares financial statements with opportunities to be involved in audit, review and agreed-upon procedures engagements.
- Prepares individual, partnership and corporate income tax returns and drafts client reports.
- Project manages one or more client assignments simultaneously, ensuring overall success of each project.
- Establishes work schedules through effective use of project management techniques.
- Organizes and controls multiple responsibilities and resources to achieve assignment objectives.
- Identifies opportunities to improve assignment profitability and identifies any risk management issues.
- Manages the implementation of solutions for clients.
- Identifies client’s needs/opportunities to sell/cross-sell products or services.
