Accounting/Tax Intern Program

Mattina, Kent and Gibbons, PC offers internships to 3rd and 4th year college students at both of our locations. Interns receive a wide variety of exposure to tax, auditing, and consulting services. Frequently, our interns are offered full-time positions upon graduation.

The ideal candidate for our internship program will have a friendly and positive attitude with strong organizational, communication and professional skills, willingness to handle multiple priorities and the ability to handle a fast paced environment.

Responsibilities

As an intern you will work closely with tax and accounting staff to:

  • Produce income tax returns for individual and business clients.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and yearly payroll returns.
  • Take on additional tasks or projects to learn more about accounting and office operations.

Education, Experience and Skills Required

  • Experience or some knowledge in Tax Preparation would be desired.
  • Currently working towards Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting.
  • Satisfactory completion of introductory accounting courses and a basic understanding of accounting and financial principles.
  • Excellent communication, writing and analytical skills.
  • Ability to interact positively in a professional manner with coworkers and clients.
  • Excellent computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Available to work additional hours during key tax season deadlines.
  • All candidates must be legally authorized to work for any employer in the United States without sponsorship.

This is a paid, non-exempt, temporary position that could require some Saturday work hours.

Entry Level Staff Accountant

MKG is continuously adding high-quality entry level (recent and upcoming accounting graduates) accountants to our staff. Entry Level accountants have the opportunity to gain knowledge in accounting, auditing, taxation, and consulting while being supported in your development of technical and business skills.

The ideal candidate for this position will have a friendly, positive attitude and strong organizational, communication and professional skills. The ability to positively and proactively manage multiple tasks under strict deadlines will be key in this fast-paced, dynamic environment. Must be able to work Saturdays from January through April 15th and additional hours during key tax season deadlines as needed. A competitive salary and benefits package are offered for this position.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare and file tax returns
  • Prepare and review financial statements for accuracy
  • Inspect accounting records for efficiency and accuracy
  • Organize and update financial records
  • Prepare documentation for external auditors
  • Continue to develop technical skills both on the job and through formal learning channels

Professional Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related discipline (Required)
  • 2+ years of experience in accounting or related field (Preferred)
  • Knowledge of QuickBooks and Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • “Out of the Box” approach to problem solving and strong analytical skills

Staff Accountant

MKG always has opportunities for talented, qualified professional accountants with 2+ years of experience who want to learn and grow professionally with our team.

The ideal candidate will have a friendly and positive attitude with strong organizational, communication and professional skills, willingness to handle multiple priorities and the ability to handle a fast paced environment. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Preparation of financial statements with the opportunity to also be involved in audit, review and agreed-upon procedures engagements.
  • Individual, partnership and corporate income tax return preparation.
  • Tax and financial planning and consulting.
  • Manages the assignment budget and profitability in their area of responsibility.
  • Develops and is accountable for the assignment work plan and ensures assigned tasks and responsibilities are achieved.
  • Coaches, advises and supports team members in meeting client and self-development expectations.
  • Develops and strengthens long-term relationships with senior client management and peer client levels.
  • Leverages commercial and market knowledge to anticipate client needs for new/additional services.
  • Supports the partner in the development and planning of practice objectives and budgets.

Professional Skills and Qualifications

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related discipline.  2+ years of accounting experience and a valid CPA license are preferred.
